KaPillow - Kapok Contour Pillow in Organic Case

Contour pillows are one of the simplest and most effective fixes for neck pain. Requiring no prescription pills and no physical therapy, these pillows work to support your neck while keeping your neck and spine in alignment while you sleep.

Why the KaPillow is the Best Contour Pillow on the Market

When we first started looking to create a contour pillow from White Lotus Home, we noticed some major problems with the ones already available:
  • They weren’t adjustable — once you bought one, you were stuck with its shape
  • They were made of synthetic materials like memory foam
  • They were expensive
Putting our warehouse of natural fibers to work, we created the KaPillow, an all-natural contour pillow that is affordable, effective, and completely adjustable.

How the KaPillow Works

The KaPillow’s design is simple — a soft, organic cotton sateen casing, filled with our natural Kapok fiber. The pillow has a half-seam in the center of it, creating a dip for your head, and leaving a lip on either side to support your neck. To adjust the firmness of your KaPillow is easy — just unzip it, and add or remove filling as you see fit. Getting the firmness of this pillow just right for your individual preference is important to it working properly for you, which is why we made it easy to adjust.

How to Sleep on the KaPillow

The KaPillow is great for anyone looking to alleviate stress on their neck, but is particularly perfect for side-sleepers and pregnant women. Simply place the KaPillow in your bed and move it according to where your head naturally falls. You can also use the KaPillow between your legs to help relieve hip stress, another common problem for pregnant women.

Kapok Fiber

Kapok is a natural fiber that comes from the Ceiba Tree in Central America. Kapok fibers come from the trees' seed pods, which shed seasonally, meaning there is no machinery required to harvest them.  With a silky and fluffy consistency, kapok has the benefits of being fluffy like down, but plant-based like cotton, making it a wonderful vegan down alternative. The Organic Cotton Sateen fabric used in this product is imported from Pakistan.

HISTORY OF KAPOK

  • Kapok fibers were in the all-natural life preservers used by G.I.s in World War II.
  • In the 1920s, explorers conquering Mt. Everest typically wore high-altitude boots with kapok insulation, leather outers, gaiters, and crampons
  • Kapok fibers are one-eighth (0.08) the weight of cotton.
  • Kapok was one of the first ancient non-food plants cultivated across Southeast Asia.
  • Kapok was routinely used for pillows before goose down; Kapok is Retro Green.
  • HERE’S A GOOD ONE THAT SUPPORTS WHY KAPOK IS BETTER THAN GOOSE DOWN:
    • In theory, as the down moult naturally, the birds shouldn't mind if it’s taken. The reality: goose down is the byproduct of keeping millions of birds around the world in cages, the lion’s share before they are slaughtered for cheap meat, or foie gras.  Therefore, buying down products carries the high risk of making you complicit in this industry.
  • Kapok is a vegetable down. It’s been used for years in the maritime industry because of its buoyancy.  In the 1940s, all sorts of items - life belts, seating cushions, mattresses — were filled with Kapok, which is water repellent and enables it to keep afloat from 30 to 35 times its weight.  An ordinary cork can only support 5 times its weight. — article in Grey River Argus, 16 October 1907, which was published 107 years ago to the day!!!
